Contestants who have had a recording contract within the last five years are ineligible. A professional is deemed to be any performer who in the past year has received monetary compensation for performing in a public establishment (restaurant/bar, show, etc.). This does not include such events as weddings, private gatherings or other amateur competitions where payment covers expenses only.
5. The contestant or group must have won, and have proof of winning, a Karaoke competition in the State of California. Proof should be some form of written confirmation or certificate from the competition organizers. Competition must have been won during the year prior to the date of the competition.
6. Applications will be accepted starting May 4, 2010 and will continue on a first come first served basis until all positions are filled. Applications may be dropped off in person, by mail or by on line entry at www.BigFun.org No entries will be accepted until verification of your prior contest win. Make sure that contact information is clear on the entry form. When the contestant count reaches 60 there will be 5 additional performers selected as alternates in case of a drop out. We will make every attempt to notify applicants of their status prior to the contest (time permitting).

10.The 1st place contestant will win $2,000! The winner, if they so choose, is also eligible to compete in the Karaoke World Championships U.S.A. Regional Finals which will accept the highest placing male and highest placing female from this year’s California State Championship!
Competition Rules & Regulations

2. Duets and groups are allowed. But the stage is limited to three microphones. Air band backup is encouraged but setup is limited to two (2) minutes per performer or group.
3. Each performance will be limited to four (4) minutes. Choose your song wisely. If the song is longer than four minutes, be prepared to give a big finish at the four-minute mark. Songs continuing beyond the 4 minute mark will be cut at the 4 minute mark. Judges will be instructed not to make any deductions due to a song being cut short. However, contestants continuing to sing after the time limit and music stoppage will have points deducted from their scores, it is the judge’s discretion as to the total number of points deducted. If the contestant is still singing at the 5 minute mark, they will be disqualified.
4. Musical instruments may be used as props, but are not allowed as an accompaniment to the contestants' performance. Musical instruments must be hand carried to the performance area. Larger instruments that require the help of others to bring to stage, or are difficult to handle are not permitted. Eq. piano, harp, etc.
5. When you check in bring your disc in a protective case. You will be informed at that time when to give it to the Karaoke Jockey. Normally this is during the performance prior to yours.

6. Entertainers are encouraged to provide their own music. Music must be on store bought karaoke CD or CDG disc (CDG – CD +Graphics format). Regular CD’s with vocal tracks are not acceptable. Absolutely no burned CD's or CDG's allowed. - NO EXCEPTIONS - Using a "burned" disc is a copyright infringement and is against the law.

The cause of the malfunction may or may not be taken into consideration for allowing a contestant to continue. A contestant who has performed a portion of their song prior to any malfunction may or may not have their performance cut short. In the case of such action the judges will be instructed to judge the contestant as though the contestant completed the song. If the contestant advances, he/she will be allowed to use a different disc during subsequent rounds.
8. If you have a CD that does not play on our audio gear you will have the option of singing your song, a cappella. You may also pick another selection from the list provided by our karaoke KJ. Keep in mind that there will be a 2 minute time limit to pick a selection and that may be considered part of your set up time.
9. Upon completion of performance the contestant(s) will be given a brief moment to bow and take audience applause, then must immediately exit the stage and take along any props used. A delay in leaving the stage area may result in points being deducted from the contestant's score.
10.Contestants will be scored by a panel of judges during semi finals. All judges’ decisions are final. No arguing with judges is allowed. Any contestant, their family or associates who argue with a judge may be disqualified from future competitions and/or ejected from the grounds.
